Lifolo Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Lifolo community handbook. This isn't a legal document — it's a plain-language guide to how we hope you'll treat each other, and how we handle it when things go wrong. For the legal terms of using Lifolo, see our Terms of Service. For how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.

1. Welcome to Lifolo

Lifolo exists to help people discover real social events near them and build genuine, in-person communities — a coffee meetup, a hike, a board game night, a language exchange. The whole point is getting off your phone and actually spending time with people.

One thing worth saying clearly: Lifolo is not a dating app. You might make a friend, meet a future business partner, or yes, even meet someone you click with romantically — that happens naturally when people connect over shared interests. But that's not what we built Lifolo for, and it's not how we design or market it. If you're looking for a dating app, this isn't it.

These Guidelines describe the kind of community we're trying to build, and the behavior we expect from everyone who's part of it.

2. Respect Everyone

Every person you meet on Lifolo — in an event chat, at an event, or just browsing profiles — deserves to be treated with basic respect.

That means:

  • Be kind. A little warmth goes a long way, especially with people you're meeting for the first time.

  • Be inclusive. People come to Lifolo from every background, age, and walk of life. Welcome that.

  • Be honest. Say who you are, be truthful about your plans, and don't mislead people.

  • Be considerate. Show up when you say you will. Communicate if your plans change.

This is the foundation everything else in this document builds on.

3. Keep Events Genuine

If you're organizing an event, you're setting the tone for everyone who joins it. We ask organizers to:

  • Create real events. Only post events you actually intend to run.

  • Be accurate. Get the time, location, and description right, so people know what they're signing up for.

  • Cancel responsibly. Plans change — that's fine. But if you need to cancel, do it as early as you can, and be considerate of people who were counting on it.

  • Communicate clearly. Use the event chat to keep participants in the loop about anything that changes.

Repeatedly posting fake, misleading, or never-intended-to-happen events isn't just unfair to people who show up expecting something real — it undermines trust in the whole platform, and we take it seriously (see Section 13).

4. Be Yourself

Your Lifolo profile should be, well, you. Use your real name, your real photo, and honest information about yourself.

  • No fake profiles.

  • No impersonating someone else.

  • No pretending to be a different age, gender, or identity to get around an event's eligibility settings or to mislead someone you're talking to.

People are trusting that the person in the chat is who they say they are when they show up to meet you. Don't break that trust.

5. Harassment and Abuse Have No Place Here

We have zero tolerance for:

  • harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind

  • stalking or repeatedly contacting someone who has asked you to stop

  • threats of any kind, direct or implied

  • hate speech, or putting someone down because of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other part of who they are

  • discrimination against another user for any of the same reasons

If someone makes you feel unsafe or disrespected, you don't have to put up with it — report it (Section 11) and consider blocking them (Section 12).

6. Lifolo Isn't the Place for Sexual Content

Since Lifolo isn't a dating app, it's also not a place for:

  • sexually explicit messages, images, or requests

  • unwanted romantic or sexual advances

  • prostitution or offers of sexual services

  • "sugar dating" arrangements or similar

  • any kind of sexual solicitation

If you're getting unwanted attention of this kind from someone, block them and report it. We take this seriously.

7. Keep It Legal

Lifolo is for real-world social connection, not for anything illegal. That means no:

  • fraud or scams of any kind

  • buying, selling, or promoting drugs

  • buying, selling, or promoting weapons

  • offering or advertising any other illegal goods or services

  • human trafficking or exploitation in any form

If you see this happening, report it immediately — this is exactly the kind of thing our reporting system exists for.

8. No Spam

Lifolo is for genuine connection, not marketing. Please don't:

  • mass-message other users

  • use the app to advertise a business, product, or service

  • post fake or misleading "promotions"

  • repeatedly send unwanted invitations to people who haven't shown interest

9. Respect Other People's Privacy

You'll naturally learn things about other people as you get to know them on Lifolo — that's the point. But it's not okay to:

  • share someone's phone number, home address, or other private details without their permission

  • screenshot or forward a private conversation without the other person's consent

  • share someone's photos outside the app without their permission

What happens in a conversation between two people should generally stay between those two people, unless everyone involved is okay with it being shared.

10. Staying Safe

Meeting people in real life is what Lifolo is all about, and most of the time, it's a great experience. But it's still meeting someone you don't know yet, so a bit of common sense goes a long way:

  • Meet in public, especially the first time you meet someone.

  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is.

  • Arrange your own transportation to and from events, so you're always free to leave when you want to.

  • Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.

  • Leave if something feels wrong. You never owe anyone your continued presence.

We can't be there with you at every event, so a lot of your safety comes down to the choices you make before and during a meetup. These few habits make a real difference.

11. Reporting

If something happens that doesn't sit right with you — a message, a profile, an event, or someone's behavior — use the Report feature. You'll be asked for a reason and can add a short description if you'd like.

A few honest things worth knowing about how reporting works:

  • Reports are reviewed by a real person on our team, not an automated system.

  • Submitting a report doesn't automatically mean the account or content will be removed — we look at each one and use our judgment.

  • We won't always be able to tell you exactly what action, if any, we took.

  • Reporting is meant for genuine concerns. Filing false reports, or using the report feature to harass someone you're upset with, is itself a violation of these Guidelines.

If you ever feel you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services first — reporting inside the app is not a substitute for that.

12. Blocking

If you'd rather not interact with someone at all, you can block them from their profile.

Blocking someone means: you won't see each other's events anymore, neither of you can join an event the other is part of, and if you're already in a shared event chat together, neither of you can send new messages to that chat once the block is in place.

One honest note: blocking manages what you see and who can contact you through the app — it doesn't guarantee you won't run into that person in real life, and it doesn't erase messages that were already sent before you blocked them. If you're worried about your physical safety, please also read Section 10.

13. How Moderation Works

When someone breaks these Guidelines, we may take action. Depending on what happened, that can include:

  • removing a specific message, event, or piece of content

  • hiding or cancelling an event

  • temporarily suspending an account

  • permanently banning an account from Lifolo

We make these decisions based on reports we receive and our own review, using our judgment about what's fair and what keeps the community safe. We don't review every single piece of content before it's posted — with real-time events and chats, that's just not how the app works — so we rely heavily on the community to flag things through the Report feature.

We try to be fair, but we also prioritize the safety of the community, and in serious cases we may act quickly without advance warning.

14. Help Us Build Lifolo

Lifolo is only as good as the community using it. Every kind message, every genuine event, every honest profile, and every report you file when something's wrong helps make this a place people trust and enjoy.
